• We are seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Urologist to join our team as a Urohospitalist, providing dedicated inpatient and emergency urologic care.
• This position is designed for a urologist who enjoys acute-care medicine and procedural urology while minimizing or eliminating the responsibilities associated with building and maintaining a traditional outpatient practice.
• The Urohospitalist will work closely with hospitalists, emergency medicine physicians, surgeons, advanced practice providers, and other specialists to provide timely urologic consultation and treatment to hospitalized patients.

Position Highlights

• Hospital-based urology position focused primarily on inpatient consults, emergency urologic care, and surgical/procedural cases
• Evaluate and manage urologic consultations originating from the Emergency Department and inpatient services
• Diagnose and treat acute urologic conditions, including urinary obstruction, kidney stones, urinary retention, hematuria, infections, trauma, and other urgent urologic conditions
• Perform appropriate inpatient and emergency procedures and surgeries, including cystoscopy, ureteral stent placement, stone procedures, management of urinary obstruction, and other procedures based on clinical need
• Provide postoperative management and follow-up for hospitalized urology patients
• Collaborate closely with Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Critical Care, General Surgery, Oncology, Nephrology, and other specialties
• Help improve access to urologic care while reducing the burden of hospital and emergency call on outpatient urologists

Responsibilities

The Urohospitalist will provide timely evaluation and treatment of patients requiring urgent or inpatient urologic care. Responsibilities may include emergency department consultations, inpatient consultations, surgical intervention when appropriate, coordination of patient care, discharge planning, and arranging outpatient follow-up when necessary.

The physician will also work collaboratively with medical staff and hospital leadership to develop efficient clinical pathways and protocols for common acute urologic conditions.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will be:

• MD or DO
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Urology
• Eligible for medical licensure in the state of practice
• Eligible for hospital medical staff privileges
• Comfortable managing a broad range of acute and inpatient urologic conditions
